Costa Rica: Coffee and Culture November 6-11, 2007
Join Coffee Kids for a fun and informative tour to beautiful Costa Rica. This five-day tour will focus on the student scholarship project supported by the Hijos del Campo Foundation which helps young students continue their education.  Learn how coffee and grassroots community development projects serve as critical elements to providing families and communities the opportunity to secure a dignified standard of living and hope for the future. Price: $1295 (Land costs only)

Coffee Education:

• Meet with farmers to understand how coffee and Coffee Kids support community development in Costa Rica.
• Observe Coffee Kids and Hijos del Campo projects in action: student scholarship programs.
• Understand the coffee process from tree to cup.
• (*)Tour fee includes a donation to the Hijos del Campo Foundation.

Itinerary Highlights:

• Arrival Day: Tuesday, November 6th:
  • Arrive in San Jose, welcome, orientation,  and overnight.
• Day 2: Wednesday, November 7th:
  • Visit COOPESARAPIQUI to witness the scholarship awards ceremony for local students. Overnight near the Arenal Volcano and evening tour.
• Day 3: Thursday, November 8th:
  • Visit COOPELDOS cooperative for a demonstration of the entire coffee process, hosted by student children of the coop members.
• Day 4: Friday, November 9th:
  • Spend the day at COOPESANTAELENA and a coop project developed by young coffee farmers.
• Day 5: Saturday, November 10th:
  • Early morning hike in Monteverde National Park, home of the resplendent Quetzal bird. Overnight in San Jose.
• Day 6: Sunday, November 11th:
  • International departures
